Kathy and Stella Solve a Murder

Returning for its second consecutive year at the Edinburgh Fringe, the musical “Kathy and Stella Solve a Murder!” is back with an exciting new version. Bronte Barbé (known for Newsies) and Rebekah Hinds (recognized for Oklahoma!) reprise their roles as Kathy and Stella, two devoted true crime podcasters who once again find themselves entangled in a captivating whodunnit mystery. In a glowing review by Sarah Crompton on WhatsOnStage, the production was praised for its emphasis on supportive female friendship and an all-encompassing spirit of playful inclusivity.

The cast is further enriched by the talents of Jodie Jacobs (from Rock of Ages) as Felicia, TJ Lloyd (noted for Guys and Dolls) portraying Justin, Imelda Warren-Green (familiar to Doctor Who fans from Time Fracture) as Erica, Jacob Kohli as ensemble member and understudy for Justin, Chelsea Hall as off-stage swing, and Sarah Pearson as ensemble member and swing.

The creative force behind Matthew Floyd Jones and Job Brittain’s musical is comprised of Fabian Aloise, who serves as co-director alongside Brittain as well as the choreographer. The artistic vision is brought to life by the likes of Cecilia Carey as set and costume designer, Tingying Dong and Dan Samson as co-sound designers, Peter Small as the lighting designer, and Charlie Ingles as the orchestrator. Charlie Martin takes on the role of associate director, while Caitlin Morgan assumes the position of associate musical director. Contributing to the visual aspects are Bethany Gupwell as associate lighting designer, Anna Dixon as the costume supervisor, and Charlotte King as the props supervisor. Gillian Greer lends her expertise as the dramaturg, while Annelie Powell and Alice Walters handle the casting director duties in their respective capacities.

The adept stage management team consists of Titch Gosling, Caoimhe Regan, and Rosie Bannister, ensuring smooth operations behind the scenes. Accompanying the performers with their musical talents are Laura Browne and Philip Williams.

“Kathy and Stella Solve a Murder!” will captivate audiences at Underbelly during the Edinburgh Fringe until August 27, 2023. Following this, the show will continue to enthrall theatergoers at Bristol Old Vic from September 13 to 30 and at HOME Manchester from October 5 to 21.
