Two Ghazi University Professors Arrested in Connection with Student Rape Case

DERA GHAZI KHAN (Web Desk) – Two professors from Ghazi University in Dera Ghazi Khan have been apprehended by the police in connection with the alleged rape of a female student.

Additionally, another case has been lodged against the accused individuals following a complaint from the girl’s father. He alleges that they threatened him to dissuade him from filing charges against them, coercing him into persuading his daughter to retract her accusations.

The First Information Report (FIR) states that both professors, who are associated with the Physics Department, resorted to threats of violence if the rape allegations against them were not retracted.

Earlier, the student had claimed that these teachers were also involved in blackmailing her younger sister.

Addressing the matter, the university’s spokesperson asserted that the incident dates back to a previous period, and the university had already taken measures against the accused.

“The two teachers have been suspended, and an internal inquiry is presently in progress,” the spokesperson stated.

The university’s reputation is now under scrutiny due to the perceived lack of resolute action against the accused parties.

Students from the Physics department had initially lodged a complaint on the Pakistan Citizen Portal on February 4, 2023, citing harassment by the two professors.

Although the university administration formed a committee to investigate, the whistleblowers ended up facing adverse consequences instead of seeing criminal charges being brought against the suspects.
